Classic Black & White Bedroom

Sometimes the heart desires a little refresher and a great way to do that in the bedroom is to change your bedding colour scheme once in a while. Even something as simple as changing the cushion covers can make a big change and help bring in contrast. If not every once in a while, I sure like to change things up seasonally. For this winter, I went with the classic black & white scheme.
Let's Have a Look

I knew for sure that I wanted crisp white hotel like bedding for the winter and high contrast cushion covers. My goal was to find high-quality long lasting bedding without having to spend a lot of money. Whenever I am on this journey, especially when textiles are involved, I always spend time first doing research on the best materials out there for that particular product. For bedding, you obviously want something that feels good on the skin and provides the best quality sleep.

From my research, I learned that long-staple Egyptian cotton is one of the best materials for luxury bedding but it also comes with a high price tag ranging over 300€.

Honestly, in the future, I wouldn't mind splurging on true luxury bedding but for now, I found affordable alternatives that I am very happy with! I was able to get everything for less than 100€! On my bed (160x200cm), apart from a fitted sheet, I have 2 duvet covers of the size 135x200cm, 2 chilling pillows 75x50cm, 2 sleeping pillows 40x80cm, 2 cushion covers 50x50cm (inlets are 60x60cm), and a bedspread quilt of the size 240x260cm.

Fitted Sheet - From experience I have found cotton sheets with elastane to be the most comfortable and durable since they have a good stretch and a smooth feel to them. Look for a mix of 95% cotton and 5% elastane in your fitted sheets. I found the perfect sheet in a local store on sale for 16€. Here is something similar but a bit pricier: Link

Duvet Covers - I found this sateen cotton duvet cover with a lyocell mix on sale for 18.99€ including a pillow cover. Cotton and lyocell blend is great for absorbing moisture and keeping you comfortable all night. The sheets have a soft sleek feel to them and a sophisticated sheen that makes them look & feel luxurious.

Sleeping Pillow Covers - I found these beautiful 400TC long staple cotton pillowcases on Amazon for 22.99€ a pair. They are so soft and luxurious! Next time, I would definitely also buy the duvet covers from this brand.

Black Cushion Covers - I have my instagram community to thank for helping me choose between 3 different cushion covers that I selected from H&M Home, and the majority vote went to this gorgeous black geometric velvet cover. The decision was absolutely the right one! They look stunning on my bed and add such a classy touch to the whole ensemble.

Black Bedspread Quilt - I like to add layers and make my bed as cozy as possible during winters! I found this thin black oversized quilt on Amazon which is perfect for someone like me, who wants to be cozy but also not feel too warm in the middle of the night and the black colour adds a nice contrast to my pure white bedding.

Lastly, I like to add an extra layer of throw blanket on top that I can use during the day, if I am ever chilling on the bed, without having to disturb the perfectly made bed - the layers of which I unravel only at night.

The throw blanket multiplies the coziness and also adds texture to the bedding which results in a beautifully put together luxurious bed.
